Parents and Carers
I am going to explain some new procedures which we will be starting from next week, along with answering some questions received from parents, if I miss anything please email or call me. I’m happy to answer any questions and talk to you about any concerns. As I have already said to you all I’m here to support you whether you are coming back next week, in a couple of weeks, next month, whatever your decision, your child’s place remains. We are here when you’re ready, for those who don’t feel ready I will endeavour to put together some home learning, although please give me some time as things are a little busy this end as you can imagine.
Arrival and Departure:
From next week this is the plan, as and when things change, I will keep everyone up to date via email with a summary on the website. This is a learning processes for everyone, although we have been lucky enough to be able to prepare for this by remaining open for the last 12 weeks.
When you arrive at nursery you will noticed we have really brightened up the outside of the building to make you all feel welcome. The new rainbow washroom is being finished as I type. I have not put down tape or marked off areas, nor put up government Covid-19 signs, I just feel we are not a supermarket or DIY shop. I think you are all aware by now of social distance and have all seen the signs. I want the nursery to have a welcome feel, not a scary one, this is about common-sense.
If you arrive by car or on foot, whether you are dropping your child off at the door or entering the building, I ask everyone to please wash their hands outside and place the tissue in the bin provided. If, when you arrive someone is already washing your hands, you can amuse your child by either naming the pictures of their friends in our windows, or by chalking on the front of the building. Please do not bunch up outside the rainbow wash house, or in any area of the carpark, it’s large area. Give people space. If you are outside the building, please wait for the parent in front of you to leave before walking up the ramp to enter the building, please allow them space to pass you.
As you enter the building you will see the lobby has been completely cleared, we ask you to pause while the teacher takes your child’s temperature. I was asked about the use of the temperature gun on dark skin, I have called the manufacture and they assured me it works fine, sorry I didn’t come back to that parent directly, it’s been a mental week.
As quickly as possible hang up your child’s coat (those with older children encourage them to do so). Put their packed lunch in the new lunch station and say your goodbyes. Please don’t stand around chatting to staff, although this will feel very unnatural for both staff and parents, for now, it’s about keeping everyone safe. If you child is a little wobbly please hold their hand, this will make is easier for us to take over.
What procedures are in place inside the nursery:
The children will be in small groups with their teacher. She will move with them around the nursery enabling them to play and learn in every area.
Once a group leaves an area, the area will be mopped and wiped down with anti bac, leaving it safe for the next group to enter.
Lunch time for now is packed lunch only (please put your child’s lunch in a wipeable bag or plastic bag, for young children please mark their bag with their name). Lunches are spilt to keep the children in small groups.
All children will get to play outside. Our back garden has always been split which will now enable us to have two small groups out there at a time (one either side). We maybe be adapting our sideway too, I will keep you informed about this.
We have always asked you to provide all day sun cream and hats. Previously, if you forgot this, we would have spare hats and cream. We no longer have either so please don’t forget, there is going to be lots of outside play and the weather is due to be nice.
We have deep cleaned the nursery and taken away lots of items such as rugs, soft toys, soft body dolls. We will not be using playdough. We will be washing dressing up clothes, puppets, dolls clothes daily (when used). We will continue to have water play but will use and anti bac bath gel which keeps is safe. We have always replaced the water daily and this will continue.
Each teacher will have her own set of supplies, paint brushes, pencils, scissors and so on to use with their group only.
Bags:
Can those of you with young children still in nappies make sure the bags have enough supplies for the day (i.e. wipes, nappies and spare clothes). We can no longer keep large packs of supplies in our changing area. All children need to have a bag with spare clothes. I understand some may never have toileting accidents, however if they do, or if they spill milk or get something down them we need to have a change of clothes available for them.
As always, we will endeavour to keep your children safe while they are in our care.
